Hi folks, working on it and will get Blip back online as soon as possible.   Thanks for your patience.

Who wants more music?

We are exploring integrating with a third party service to provide substantial added content.  So, we are looking for your help crafting the right sort of integration.  Let us know:

-what content do you want to see (full length audio, audio previews, more music videos, all of the above, etc.);

-what kind of functionality do you want to see; and

-what improvements would make you excited to bring your friends (back) to Blip?

There are still resource and other limitations, but the possibility is real.  Let us know what you think by email to support@blip.fm.  Also keep bug reports coming!

Debugging

Well folks, obviously the debugging process is taking way too long, but we want you to know the plan is to keep going until they are all stomped out.  Sadly this will take some more time and further tax your patience.  We are sorry for the hassle and frustration, but we wanted to let you know that we will continue to work on it.  There is no plan to just accept it in its current state as ‘good enough’ (’cuz it ain’t).

A few users were confused by our request that you create a second account to compare performance old vs. new as an aid to helping us debug, so here is the clarification:

-no we do not expect you do stop using your old accounts and move over to the new ones

-yes we do plan on fixing the performance issues impacting older accounts

-no we do not want you to keep these new accounts going after debugging is finished

-yes we agree having a second account and using it to give yourself props is massively pathetic, and we strongly encourage our users not to be massively pathetic (doing so for testing is the exception)

Heads Up

We are getting close to deploying updates to the site, so we wanted to give a heads up, properly set expectations, etc.  To that end we have tried to anticipate some of your questions:

-”When is this thing going live?”  We plan to put the updated site up by April 21, but be advised these sorts of dates tend to move.

-”What is going to be different?”  Visually not much.  Things should break less.  Twitter and Facebook integrations should work again (though you may have to reset these connections).  Most importantly the updated backend code will allow us to efficiently make later changes and improvements (such as to the UI).

-”Hey this thing is broken!  I thought you were going to fix it not break it more.”  It is likely that the updated site will have bugs we were unable to detect during our Q&A process.  Please report any bugs by email to support@blip.fm.

-”What, this looks the same to me.  Has anything even changed?”  Sadly this is true.  This update does not add any new features or update the user interface.  That being said, these upgrades are a prerequisite to those kinds of future changes.
